WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

 

Carlos Acosta, Yankees-First EVER "Playball" Player to sign a contract. Currently working as a scout in Venezuela for the Florida Marlins International Scouting Department in addition to serving as the Assistant General Manager of "Playball".                                           

 

Javier Vazquez, Expos-Montreal Expos ace pitcher had a breakthrough season in 2000 ranking in the top 10 in numerous National League pitching leader categories. The 2001 season should see Vazquez take his place amongst the elite young pitchers in baseball.
 

 

Vladimir Guerrero, Expos-Montreal Expos Superstar Outfielder and one the best young stars in the game today! A perrenial All-Star and premiere offensive player in baseball, at only 24 years old, Vladdy's best is yet to come. 

 

Jose Vidro, Expos- Had a breakthrough season in 2000 for the Expos. The 25 year old has emerged as one of the top second baseman in the National League. As a first time all-star in 2000, the team at PBA knows there will be many more appearances in his future. 

 

Michael Barrett,Expos- Attended PBA during his high school days, which led to him being drafted in the 1st round by the Montreal Expos. Currently the starting catcher for the Expos.

 

Vince Rooi, Expos-Came to "Playball" from Holland, where he received numerous accolades for his play at 3B. At 18 years of age, Vince has been progressing nicely in the Expos system. Played for Class A Vermont in 2000, and with his talent it wouldn't surprise anyone to see him reach AA in 2001.

Jean Mujica, Expos- The native of Venzuela has performed admirably in the Venezuelan Summer League last season. 2001 will see Jean man the hot corner in Jupiter.

 

Luis Torres, Expos-Just completed a fine 2000 season with the Vermont Expos of the New-York Penn League where he posted a 3.43 ERA. One of the Expos' most promising pitching prospects.
Williams Figueroa, Expos-One of two Dominican prospects recently signed out of PBA this past July. 2001 will mark Williams' professional debut in the North America where he will suit up for the Expos' Gulf Coast League Affiliate in Jupiter. At 16, and armed with a 95 mph fastball, this is one arm that bears watching.
Frank Diaz, Expos-Outfielder was signed this past July with the above mentioned Figueroa.Frank can be the biggest surprise for the  2001  season. Signed as a pitcher and moved to the outfield because of his bat.
Rick Dehart, Expos- The left hander pitched a few years in the major leagues with Montreal. He orginally signed at the first tryout camp held at PBA.
Go Ikeda, Independent League- Signed to play independent baseball after attending a PBA tryout and went on to play two seasons in the Frontier League. 2000 saw "Go" employed as the personal interpreter for Montreal Expos' pitcher Hideki Irabu. Now working as an instructor and Japanese interpreter at "Playball".
Karl Harris, Expos-Australian 1B recently completed his first season in North America with the Bradenton Expos of the Rookie Gulf Coast League. Look for Karl to move to the mound in 2001.
Andres Espinoza, Expos- signed at PBA and spent 5 years in the Expos organization.
Yuji Nerei, Expos-Japanese 1B was discovered at PBA early in 2000. Made a remarkable ascent through the Expos minor league system, commencing at  "A" ball and finishing the season with the AAA Ottawa Lynx! Next stop: Major Leagues!
Eiji Miyamoto, Expos-Japanese RHP performed admirably in his debut with Expos Gulf Coast League team, posting a 2.52 ERA. Eiji made big strides in his first professional season playing in two different levels.
Lorvin Louisa, Expos-The 17 year old native of Curacao is one of the brighest young players in the Expos minor League system. Equipped with a cannon arm, Louisa's tools will be on display with the Bradenton Expos in 2001.
Hensley Meulens,Yankees-Currently Playing in the Mexican League in addition to serving as a "Playball" Guest Instructor
Anthony Ambrosini, Expos-having attended the last PBA tryout, Anthony was signed by the Montreal Expos.
Pavel Budsky,Romania- Attended PBA for one month and signed a minor league contract. Currently working with youth baseball back in his native Romania.
Antonio Sucre, Expos- 2001 will be his first professional season.
Noehmar Rengifo, Expos- Young hard throwing Venezuelan pitcher

Norberto Rivas, Expos- Outfielder made his professional debut in 2000.
